Individual counselling offers space to slow down, understand and be with what is happening within you. You may be experiencing anxiety, loneliness, overwhelm, relationship difficulties, loss or change, or simply have a sense that something in your life needs your attention.
You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what you need.
We begin with where you are.
Some people are ready to begin exploring immediately; others need time to settle into the therapeutic relationship.
Your space, at your pace.
Our work is relational, experiential and bottom-up. This means we don’t only talk about your experiences or try to understand them intellectually; we also pay attention to how they are being experienced in the here and now — through emotion, sensation, the body and the relationship between us.
Our sessions are conversational and collaborative. You lead with what matters to you, while I listen for what may be happening beneath the words. I may invite you to slow down, notice what you are feeling, where you experience it in your body, or what happens internally as we stay with something for a little longer.
I am not the expert in your life; I am here to walk alongside you.
Whilst my practice is rooted in a person-centred approach, I draw from somatic, emotion-focused, attachment theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), ACT and mindfulness, and existential approaches as interconnected ways of understanding your experience.
We might explore what lies beneath an emotion, the protective or younger parts of you that emerge in certain situations, the attachment needs and longings within your relationships, or the meaning an experience holds for you.
At times, we may use emotion or image cards, objects, chair work or other experiential ways of exploring what can be difficult to reach through words alone. At other times, you may simply need space to talk and be deeply heard.
Presence and acceptance run throughout this work. Rather than immediately trying to change or move away from difficult experiences, we make space to meet what is here with curiosity and compassion. Mindfulness and ACT inform this part of my approach, while solution-focused and coaching perspectives can offer more direction when you want practical movement or clearer next steps.
You lead the work; I bring the lenses, curiosity and presence to help us explore it together.
We regularly check in together to make sure therapy continues to feel useful and relevant to you.
Your space, at your pace — from beginning to end.
